APPLICATION GUIDE

SpectraFX can be applied to products in many ways, including:

  • Sprayed On

  • Rolled On

  • Silk Screening

  • Injection Molded

  • Extruded

  • Applied like Printing Ink

  • Brushed On With Typical Paint Brushes

  • Powder Coated

  • Air Brushed

Creating your own SpectraFX paint is as simple as mixing in flakes to the clear paint or coating of your choice.  The flakes will lay down evenly and won't clump up in any type of paint as long as you follow the directions on the can.  And the intensity of the color flop can be controlled by simply adding more or less flakes.

However, it is important to realize that the color of the background you are applying the SpectraFX clear paint to will have a major impact on the final appearance.  SpectraFX flakes absorb light, not reflect it.  So very dark, opaque backgrounds create the most dramatic color changes since they do not reflect light back into the crystals.  On very light backgrounds the SpectraFX clear coat may look more pearlescent.

Mixing Guidelines:

16 Grams of  SpectraFX Flakes > 1 Pint of Clear Coating
32 Grams of SpectraFX Flakes > 1 Quart of Clear Coating
1/4 Pound of SpectraFX Flakes > 1 Gallon of Clear Coating
1/2 Pound of SpectraFX Flakes > 2 Gallons of Clear Coating
1 Pound of SpectraFX Flakes > 4 Gallons of Clear Coating
