MirraChrome is applied using standard
HVLP spray guns or Air Brushes. It is an easy and forgiving
paint to work with, as long as you apply it with heavy air
and a light volume of paint coming out of the gun, so that
you just "mist" it over the surface until you
have an even deposition.
However, the key to achieving the highest mirror-like reflectivity
lies in the surface preparation of the object you are painting.
The smoother, more "glass-like" your surface is,
the more reflective the final appearance will be.
MirraChrome will create a mirror finish as long as your surface is as smooth as glass. |

MirraChrome application using the(1K) Lightning Clear Kits:
STEP 1. - Apply Alsa Jet Black Stylin Basecoat's ASB-13.
STEP 2. - Allow the basecoat to fully dry 15-30 minutes. You are now ready to apply the Lightning Clear (ALC-770). If your surface already has a glass like sheen, move on to STEP 3.
STEP 3. - Allow the Lightning Clear to fully dry (Air dry 24 hours / Bake 140° F for 30 minutes).
STEP 4. - Begin applying MirraChrome (MC-101) using a dusting effect, (very small volume of material with a substantial amount of air). If you are using an H.V.L.P. gun you should be around 20 p.s.i. otherwise use whatever the recommended air pressure is for your gun, remembering to keep the material volume very low. Continue applying the MirraChrome until desired effect is achieved.
STEP 5. - Allow the MirraChrome to air dry (Air dry 30 minutes / Bake 140° F for 15 minutes).
STEP 6. - Use a very soft lint-free cloth and carefully wash with water to remove all of the excess “dust” from the surface. Once you complete this step you will notice a drastic improvement in the final appearance.
STEP 7. - Be sure all moisture is removed prior to moving on to STEP 8 (We recommend Baking at 140° F for 15 minutes).
STEP 8. - Apply the Lightning Clear to the MirraChrome and allow to air dry (Air dry 30 minutes / Bake 140° F for 15 minutes) before moving on to Step 9..
STEP 9. - If you are applying this to a vehicle or other object that will be handle frequently or exposed to the elements you will now want to apply the Alsa Speed Clear (optional).

MirraChrome application using the(2K) Speed Clear Kits:
STEP 1. - Apply Alsa (Jet Black) Stylin Basecoat (ASB-13).
STEP 2. - Allow the basecoat to fully dry 15-30 minutes. You are now ready to apply the topcoat NOTE: If your surface already has a glass like sheen, move on to STEP 4.
STEP 3. - If you are using the Lightning Clear (ALC-770) apply 1 to 2 wet coats to achieve a glass like sheen. Allow the Lightning Clear to fully dry (Air dry 24 hours / Bake 140° F for 30 minutes).
If using Speed Clear (SC-1230) you will apply 2 coats then allow to dry (Air dry 4 hours / Bake 140° F for 1 hour).
NOTE: As Speed Clear is a 2K clearcoat (requiring mixing with hardener) you must wait 7-10 days for all of the tail solvents to evaporate before you can proceed to STEP 4. If you CANNOT wait the 7-10 days then we recommend using Lightning Clear instead of the Speed Clear to topcoat the black basecoat.
(You can now sand and buff if necessary to remove any surface imperfections, you will need to be sure to remove ALL compounds and wax residues with rubbing alcohol to insure a streak-free surface prior to applying the MirraChrome).
STEP 8. - You will now apply the Lightning Clear to the MirraChrome to “lock it down” and allow to dry (Air dry 30 minutes / Bake 140° F for 15 minutes) before moving on to Step 9.
STEP 9. - If you are applying this to a vehicle or other object that will be handled frequently or exposed to the elements you will now want to apply the Alsa Speed Clear (optional).
STEP 10. - Apply the Speed Clear and allow to dry (Air dry 4 hours / Bake 140° F for 1 hour). |
