Waste Treatment System for ChromeFX

A three stage treatment system will remove heavy metals from wastewater so that it can be safely disposed in most sewage systems.  Do not treated wastewater in septic systems.  Check local rules and regulation before dumping any waste down your sewer.

System consists of three buckets or containers connected so that liquids waterfall from on e to another and finally into a drain.  Buckets can be 5 gallon or larger depending on need. Pipe should extend to bottom of next bucket as shown in illustration.  Add two pounds of Rock Salt for each gallon of water in container to start.

Waste solution flows into the first bucket of salt solution.  Metals will precipitate out as an insoluble salt sludge.  Overflow from the first bucket will go into the second bucket where the same reaction will take place.  The third bucket catches the overflow from the second bucket and treats  the water again.  After the third treatment, the water is free of heavy metals and can be disposed of down the sewer in accordance with local regulations.

Add salt to maintain reaction.  If the third bucket has significant sludge, the salt level in the first two buckets is too low.  Add salt immediately.

Scrape out the sludge from the buckets and place in a sealed container for disposal.  Wear gloves and eye protection.
